We Totally Rock!

So Kai and Daila have been obsessed with "rocking out" lately. It started with Kai, and now both he and Daila rock out all day long using all sorts of different toys, furniture, bowls, utensils, cardboard guitars that Billy made, etc. to make up all of their "rock band" gear. Well, when they went to their weekly "Day at Gigi and Grandpa's" house today Grandpa Bobby surprised them with their own super special and really cool very own guitars. Bobby is the resident/family musician ad he was insistent on them having the proper "rocking out" guitars. They were beyond excited to say the least. to top the day off Auntie Pam Pam came over and decked them out with all new fun summer clothes, so they felt extra Rockstar-ish. All I heard on the ride home (before they fell fast asleep after rocking so hard all day :)) was what a great day it was. Thanks Bobby and Pam Pam and rock on little munchkins!

Ballerina Girl and Basketball Boy

Kai and Daila turned 30 months old the other day. Hard to believe they are already half way to kindergarten! Well their personalities are getting more colorful everyday and their interests are starting to really surface too. Daila spends hours twirling around the house in her pretty dance tu-tu that Gigi got her for Christmas. Also a friend of ours gave her some ballet slippers that finally fit her perfect so she is as official a ballerina as it gets! Kai seems to have an off-the charts interest in pretty much everything! Whatever it is that has his attention that day he is 110% into... Whether it be Basketball Guy! Baseball Guy! Football Guy! Skateboard Guy! RockStar! whatever it is he happens to be that day you will know about right away, and be reminded of it every 10 minutes :) Our neighbors made Kai's day the other day and gave us this basketball hoop that their son had grown out of. You would have thought he won the lottery when we brought it over and set it up. Fun times for sure!

Kai the ROCKSTAR!

So we're really not sure where it came from but for the last month or two Kai is obsessed with Rock and Roll! He rocks around the house all day with the cardboard guitar Billy made for him after we discovered this obsession. If he can't find that momentarily, he'll substitute it with a baseball bat, golf club, or anything else that will elude to the "rockstar" stance on a guitar. Now not only is it with the guitar but it's also any makeshift drum set he can come up with. He really did, all by himself, raid the cupboard the other morning to construct this elaborate drum set. And believe me, it was one of those mornings where everyone was running around trying to get it together for a busy day. Kai was just banging away like he was live and on stage. Never a dull moment with this one :)

Let the beach days begin!

Well, there is one thing for sure, our whole family loves the beach. Kai and Daila ask almost daily if we can go. We've been going more lately as they have gotten to a point to start really enjoying it more so than just trying to eat the sand and running aimlessly as they did almost every time we went last summer. Daila loves to work on her sand castle building skills and Kai loves to walk around to every family in a 100 yard radius to introduce himself and see if anyone is up for tossing the football :)

Today we met at our friends Cam and Allison's who live in Laguna. We played and had a picnic lunch. It was 85 degrees at the beach today which is far above average. It's going to be a great summer!
