Endless Imagination

Kai and Daila have hit the imaginative stage and it never ceases to blow Billy and I away with the cuteness and sometimes just pure geunius. Today Daila walked in the house with these golf clubs all bundled in her arms and proclaimed "these flowers are for you mama!" I was utterly speachless with just how adorable the whole thing was. I quickly realized that she was very serious as she broke my stunned silence with "we need a vase and to put them in water, they're thirsty!" Now I'm sure part of this was sparked by Billy bringing home flowers a couple weeks ago and we quickly rushed them into a vase and explained to Kai and Daila how thirsty they get. The rest of the day she came by to tend to the flowers every 10 minutes and couldn't wait to show them to Billy when he got home from work. I just love love love being this little girls mama...:)

Easter Weekend Part II

Kai and Daila kicking back after their first Easter egg hunt.

Daila was very happy to see that all of her eggs from the previous days egg decorating were able to be found! Note to self, try and avoid "earth" colored eggs (usually the result of all the colors being used at once) if trying to do and egg hunt outside!

Hunting eggs together.

Daila exploring her Easter basket. The Easter Bunny brought silly putty!

Kai loves candy!

We gave them about 15 minutes to consume whatever they wanted. It was pretty much an Easter Basket Massacre :)

Kai Boy. I love this photo but for some reason think he'll resent me later in life for posting this.

Daila Sue. This one was caught by Billy, we took turns taking photos. It's always so fun to see what comes out of the hundreds that we take every holiday.

Bubble blasters! Billy picked these up to add to their baskets of loot. They were the hit!

Billy's masterpiece egg. We decided he looked like a ragged little bum easter egg guy. Kai and Daila were o excited when they found him in the tree!

Teaching Kai to make his pinwheel go round and round.

I think this photo was taken we we announced that the candy massacre was about to end. Daila was not happy about this...

They ended the morning's Easter festivities all sugared up and having a dance party with their new friends "Bunny Deans" and "Monkey Deans" They really named them this themselves. Such funny little people they are!

They are going to realize next weekend just how special they are as the Easter Bunny will be visiting them AGAIN! While Billy and I are in San Francisco, Sally (GiGi) will be here with them, then taking them to Pam and Stevens house on Sunday to spend Easter with cousin Max! There they will get to do another egg hunt, which now they will be pros at :) I'm sure once Billy and I get there for dinner they will have lots to tell us about!

Easter Weekend Part I...

We celebrated Easter a week early as Billy and I will be going up to San Francisco next weekend for the last "official" SPB convention. We'll be back by dinner on Easter Sunday, but didn't want to miss out on Kai and Daila's first real Easter experience. They've figured out what the Easter Bunny is now because of some of the shows they like to watch and they now know all about the "egg hunt" too. So we made a special trip to our favorite arts and crafts store to get Styrofoam eggs and all the supplies. We figure by next Easter they'll be ready for traditional egg shell Easter eggs. It was fun to see what came out of our random collection of crafty stuff for this years eggs.
So we got all the stuff out on the table, turned on some good music and had a family craft day!

Daila made some masterpieces out of mostly pink white and grey. Once those dried she spent about a half an hour picking through a bag of random shiny shapes I had. Of all the shapes she ended up picking out all of the "baby bottle" ones she could find. So she ended up with a baby bottle Easter egg, which is so her :) Also- I found it really sweet that while she was doing that she must have noticed that I was making an egg using little hearts and without me even asking she had picked a little of handful of hearts out for me to add to my egg. I just thought it was so sweet!

Kai is very creative and as of recently has been more into arts and crafts than Daila. It shows in his crayon drawings and now his painting too. He is very into bright colors and spends a lot of time making meticulous small bright shapes. He's also left handed and his right brained mentality is starting to really come out. The only thing we thought was a little odd is that considering he's a boy and creative, he REALLY hates being dirty! We thought this was a big breakthrough day for Kai as by the time they were done and ready for their bath he was pretty much covered head to toe in paint and glitter!

Before they went to sleep that night we talked about how the Easter Bunny would be coming and maybe he would hide their eggs by the time morning came. Well it didn't ever occur to me that in their little minds they may worry about the precious eggs they spent all day decorating! Daila started to get really upset before going to sleep and kept repeating about the bunny hiding her eggs. Then she started talking about Swiper, a character from Dora the Explorer, that always tries to steal things. She was convinced that while she slept he and the Easter Bunny were going to team up and come take all their eggs! Suddenly our whole happy weekend took a strange turn, as this was the furthest thing we thought they would be thinking about before bed. So Billy and I assured Daila that in the morning we would help her and make sure we found every single egg. She finally calmed down and went to sleep, but sure enough the next morning it was first thing she talked about. Thankfully we found them all!
