Another awesome beach Friday.

We went to Laguna Beach again today. This time it wasn't sunny and crowded like our last visit, but it reminded me of one of the many winter beach days I miss so much about living there. The beach is awesome no matter what the weather is like (in my opinion!) We went to the same mexi joint Adolfo's and then strolled the street for a while. We stopped to check out the surf for a while and Kai and Daila love to watch the waves come in. Later we met our friends Tim and Kristi in San Clemente to see the Roxy Girl surf film premier "Dear and Yonder" at the Surf Heritage Museum. The babies were amazing again, we didn't anticipate going to the film and considering the last minute add on to the day, they hung out like it was nothing. We're so blessed...:) Of course I was happy that their first ever movie was a film about female surfers, skaters and a 20 year old girl that sails and surfs for weeks on end by herself! Obviously the babies won't remember this, but it will be fun to tell Daila later that she got to see this film premier when she was only 9 months old!

Thanks Micro Me!

I reconnected with an old friend Natasha a couple of weeks ago that I've known through the years from skateboarding. She was a designer for Vans and a couple of years ago started her own kids clothing line called "Micro Me". Her stuff is all skate and rock and roll / punk inspired and is adorable! You can check it out at: http://www.microclothing.com/ Well she sent a huge box of stuff to Kai and Daila and we tried stuff on and had a little photoshoot yesterday. It was the first time I have put Daila's hair in pigtails, and Kai just couldn't resist them. This ended up cutting the shoot a little short, but we still had a fun time. Daila was just so cute in her rufflebutt checkered pants and Kai was a rockstar in his rock and roll tees. We can't wait to go out and show it all off!

Thanks Natasha! Kai and Daila will be rocking your gear with pride.

Bon Appetit!

So I finally got to do something today I've waited nine long months to do. I got to cook for the babies! I made them pancakes and they loved them. We finally broke out the trays for the highchairs and I served the babies "brunch" consisting of pancakes, shredded cheese and applesauce. When we fed them dinner last night we realized they wanted to eat so much more than they use to, and were starting to think just baby food and formula wasn't cutting it anymore, and we were right! They both ate some of everything, but Kai was more into the pancakes and Daila loved the shredded cheese. This opens a whole new exciting door for all of us, maybe we'll have grilled cheese for dinner?!

Nine months of happiness!

The babies will be 9 months old tomorrow and we can't believe that much time has already passed since their first moment here on earth. It really feels like we blinked and all of the sudden they are these 2 little amazing souls with so much personality already, we can only imagine what the future will hold. Most importantly they are happy, healthy and growing like weeds...:)

I thought it would be a good time to do another "things you didn't know" list about each of them, especially now that they are really developing distinct traits. It will be interesting to see if/ how these stay with them as they get older.

Kai Boy:
1) Is the fastest crawler this side of the Mississippi.
2) He may be the first baby ever to actually take crawling to a "running" level, and we think he did this out of necessity in hopes that one day he will be fast enough to actually climb into the refrigerator before the door closes. He can be on the other side of the house and hear the fridge door open and sure enough he's there in a flash.
3) He may grow up to be a mountain climber. He loves to climb over anything possible and has already been up the stairs twice (with us right behind him of course) He also loves to climb over anyone who is on the floor with him. If Billy or I are laying there he will go up and over repeatedly, I've seen him do it 6 times in a row! Poor Daila is the subject of his climbing many more times than she would like...:(
4) He has a new nickname "Bobble Boy" because he bobbles his head all the time. The funniest is when he is speed crawling and bobbling at the same time, which happens a lot.
5) He loves to eat and we haven't found anything yet he doesn't like. He's mastering eating puffs now. He's very coordinated and likes to pick them up and gets them in his mouth first try!
6) He's very affectionate and loves to hug and kiss. If you're ever in need of a pick-me-up Kai will gladly give you a big squeeze and make your day.
7) He's become just as chatty as Daila if not more and likes to see how loud he can get. This combined with his excited nature is quite a sight and sound these days.

Daila Sue:
1) Wakes up first every morning and we can hear her talking to herself on the monitor. Kai doesn't seem to mind and will sleep right through it.
2) We think she may grow up to be a drummer. She is constantly pounding away on everything possible. The floor, the wall, Kai's back, the couch, the fireplace. She really loves playing drums on the fireplace because it has an echo to it that she loves. If you start to drum with here she will be your best friend!
3) Billy taught her to give "High Fives" and she loves to do it with anyone who will give her one.
4) She's been letting go of things she stands up on lately like she forgets she doesn't know how to stand yet. We're thinking she may be the first walker, but both babies have been trying to out-do each other on these skills so who knows.
5) She loves our daily story book time. Everyday we all sit on the floor and read a different book and I'm pretty sure this is her favorite time of day. Both babies love it, but she is very attentive and really looks at all of the pictures and seems to be interested in what your reading. Kai on the other hand spends most of his time trying to tackle the book.
6) She tries to put her hands in your mouth while you talk. We think she's obsessed with sounds and conversation and she's trying to grab your voice with her hand! Maybe she'll be a talk show host?
7) Likes to put everything possible in her mouth. We've really had to step up our game on making sure nothing is on the floor or in reach that can go into their mouth. We changed her diaper a couple of weeks ago and a fully in tact "made in china" tag made it through her system. Lovely.

Both babies go bananas over the Dell Lollipop Lollipop commercial and both love to giggle at each other all day. it's awesome. That's all I can think of right now, but there are tons more adorable things they each do.

Beach Day!

So Billy took a half day on Friday and we loaded up the crew and headed to the beach. We can't say this is the first beach day, because the official first was back in December when Mimi and Papa were here, and we "tried" to take some photo's of the babies on the beach when they were about 1 month old, so they were a little too young to enjoy it...:)

With the exception of of Daila's major meltdown because mommy didn't realize it's NOT a good idea to put sunscreen on the babies hands while lathering them up (note to self) and she spent the hour before going to the beach crying her eyes out with sunscreen in them, it was a flawless day! We thought for sure we'd be doing a panicked evacuation at some point due to sand in the eye or something but it all worked out. Granted we only stayed about an hour, but it was enough time for both babies to experience the amazement of sand between the toes and they both really seemed to be in awe of the ocean as they gazed silently and still as the waves crashed in on Laguna Beach. Daila was the most giggly we've ever seen her (and that's saying a lot because she giggles all day) and Kai was all over the place trying to get in the sand and loved standing up on the cooler to get a better view of everything.

We even got to finish off the day at my favorite mexi joint that I use to go to every Sunday when I lived there years ago. We got the best spot on the patio and the babies had their bottles while mom and dad had shrimp quesadillas and a couple of beers. Such a perfect day, we can't wait to do it again!

Lazy Sunday.

Daila loves to ambush Kai when he falls asleep and today she decided to offer her thumb to suck on when he woke up mad. She was giggling the whole time and thought it was hilarious!

The cuteness just never ends...:)

These are just a few shots from over the last couple days. Kai also has 2 bottom teeth now, Daila is finally crawling on her hands and knees (so now she's not our human swifter anymore!) and both babies have started literally chasing each other around. It's funny to watch though because it's kind of in slow motion, but once one catches up to the other they just laugh and laugh. We've really noticed over the last week how much they are into each other, watching them make each other laugh is indescribably adorable. Hopefully others will get to see it someday soon as it seems they only do it when they are at home with only Billy or I here. And the last 2 photos is what Kai and Daila do best now, which is terrorize the bottom of the changing table. I ended up just making that where their toys are kept now, because no matter what was down there they would pull it all out. Daila's favorite place to hang out now is laying in there and Kai is always right there sitting next to her to assist in whatever it is she's decided to get into.
