Random Cuteness.

So long story short, I can't find the camera cord to upload photos. Once I find this (again) I will put up the newest adorable pics. In the meantime, I thought I'd post some random cuteness that i didn't work into other post due to the 5 photo maximum, as well as some random tidbits about the babies...:)

  1. Kai must have his feet exposed AT ALL TIMES so he can gaze with amazement at his toes and stuff them in his mouth.

  2. Daila likes to gather up all of the little toys, stuffed animals and pacifiers and sit them in a pile in front of her. She will loan one out to Kai occasionally, but that's only if he refuses to let her "pacify" him with her own fingers. Which she loves to do.

  3. Kai's favorite place to be is on the couch next to daddy in his "fox hole", the space between Billy and the couch when he's lying down, because Kai can lean on him and check out the whole room and pretend like he is standing by himself.
  4. Daila has developed a giggle that can only be described as "devilish" and she likes to use it all day long. We think she has decided she is the funniest person she knows.

  5. Both babies are teething right now, which should make for an eventful flight to Ohio next week. God help us.

  6. Kai will kick his feet so fast while swinging in his swing we've often wondered if a 14 pound crazyman could actually knock it over or break it even though it holds up to 30 lbs.

  7. Daila is obsessed with feeling ALL fabrics on her face. If you try to use a new cloth she hasn't fealt yet to wipe her face, forget about trying to get it back from her. She will love and adore it for a good half hour and then place it in her pile of posessions she has stashed for later.

That's it for now. We're getting ready for a play date with Danielle and her twin girls Sophia and Olivia. Well, they are coming over and we're all strolling over to Target. Her girls are 18 months, so it's kind of like a preview of what to expect, which is good as Kai and Daila are getting mobile already! It will be a good crash course in baby proofing the house!

Mommy and Daddy go on a date!

So Billy and I had a chance to cut away for a little while on Saturday afternoon while out in the dessert. Of course the first thing we did was head to the Palm Springs skatepark. We had a quick session there and then were on to greater things. We set out to find the epic right handed kidney pool we found and Billy snuck a few grinds in on our last trip to the dessert. Well, we found it but sadly the home was now occupied. We drove around and found a couple more that could easily be drained and skated on our next trip. I know, you can put us in a classy place but you can't force us to be fancy the whole time! One of the things about Palm Springs is that while driving around looking for empty pools I love looking at the different and diverse eras of architecture. It's clear this town is owned and run by a very eclectic and creative bunch. While driving around we stumbled onto a house with huge metal sculptures of various colored robots scattered throughout the property. I mean really, why wouldn't we?!

We wound up at our favorite Palm Springs joint "Billy Reeds". In a conversation the previous night we discovered this was also a favorite establishment of Billy's late father Billy Deans III several years ago. That news didn't come as a surprise at all as the moment you step into the place you instantly revert back to the days of the Rat Pack, so anyone who would appreciate this will quickly fall in love with it. We sat down at the bar and ordered 2 dirty martinis from the same friendly bartender we spoke with the last time we were in town. Soon after a familiar face walked in. It was an 85 yr. old man named John who we met the last time we were there. We quickly started chatting with him again. He has lived in Palm Springs for 45 years and loves to tell stories of the way things were. We were all ears as he told us of the days Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin use to frequent the joint. We had lunch and so far everything we've ever ordered from there has been amazing, even down to the navy bean soup with a hint of coriander just like my great grandmother use to make! We absolutely love this place and highly recommend visiting it if you're ever in the area.
We got back to the house just in time to hit a few after hours golf balls, one of the perks while visiting the dessert house. We ended the day with a wonderful family dinner and wine out by the pool under a full moon. Who says you can't fit a million things into one day? Maybe we're getting better at it as we don't have as many chances to gallivant around as much as we use too...:)

Kai and Daila's first Easter.

So we took it back out to Palm Dessert last weekend to celebrate the babies first Easter. We drove out Thursday night after the babies last bottle and bath and they slept the whole way there. We got there around midnight and were greeted by Sallie (a.k.a. Gigi a.k.a. Grandma). We spent the first night settling into "vacation" mode while Gigi kept a watchful eye on Kai and Daila. It was our first "official" overnight family trip so Billy and I soaked it in, enjoyed a little wine, and relaxed! The house is located on the 4th hole of the Legends PGA West Golf Course and has a beautiful view of the mountains. It's not hard to quickly get into party time there...:)

We stayed in the Casita (the scene of the crime...;)) and Daila and Kai slept soundly right next to us. It was so nice to sleep in Friday morning and not be in a rush, and it seems like the babies sleep better in the dessert than anywhere. So after we all slept in we had a nice, lazy Friday. We waited for Pamela, Steven and Max (Billy's sister, bro-in-law and nephew, and owners of the house) to arrive who had been in Cabo all week. They miraculously made it through LA traffic from LAX to get there in time for a nice family dinner before the eventful weekend started. The babies have gotten so fun and playful in just the last 2 weeks so it was nice for the family to get to spend time with them before the weekend madness began.

On Saturday afternoon Billy and I were able to finally get out and have a little "date" of our own (more on that in the next entry).

Sunday morning we woke and went to the main house which was buzzing with preparation for the guests to arrive. Once the babies were fed I got into a cupcake frosting project with Max and taught him how to frost using a freezer bag. Auntie Pamela gave the babies cute t-shirts from their trip to Cabo and Gigi gave them a cute little singing bunny which the babies were enamoured with. We spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon with family friends; Jen and Joe Fisher and there 4 sons, 3 of whom were the triplets conceived in the casita as well! The rule of the day was "no hanky panky in the casita!". We were also joined by Marisa and Alan from Newport Beach and Alan's brother Gary from Malibu. The neighbor Paula was having guests all day as well, and Kai and Daila kept getting "kidnapped" to go over and be paraded around . We felt it was only right to share the cuteness wealth! Poor babies were so tired at the end of the day. I think they had a wonderful first Easter, the one of course they will have no recollection of, but we'll be able to tell them all about it.

Yummy in my tummy!

Now that the babies have been eating rice cereal for the last week or so, we decided to start spicing things up a bit. A few days ago we started adding bananas to it, and today was the big crowd pleaser with the addition of applesauce. Kai and Daila were so excited about this they could hardly contain themselves between bites. Kai resorted to sticking his foot in his mouth in between every long awaited scoop, and Daila found her bib to be an excellent pallet cleanser, or maybe she was just searching for extra remnants of the yummy delight?! Either way, Cereal Time is officially the main event in our house now. And to top it all off I think they LOVE their little high chairs. They look like little astronauts to me, getting ready for lift off!

Thanks Easter Bunny! Bok Bok!

Last Saturday we visited our friends Myer and Danielle and their 18 month old twin girls in Ladera Ranch. We met up with her sister who has 1 year old twin boys. It was a full blown "twinfest"! We all strolled over to the park where the annual Spring Fling Party was going on and we ran into the Easter Bunny! It was a fun afternoon of sun, excited babies and easter eggs.

Discovery.

This week has been full of laughing, playing and messy eating. The babies are both so into each other now, and are always interested in what each other is doing and just plain goofing off together. We're not sure what's going on with them half the time, but all of the sudden one or both of them will let out a hearty little chuckle, which usually results in finishing with Kai's patended high pitch squeal of excitement. They are both reaching out and grabbing toys now and spend endless amounts of time inspecting each thing. They also have been spending more time in their bouncer and are starting to figure out all of things to do in it. Kai is now finding his voice more, meaning things have gotten pretty loud around our house with them "talking" to each other in their own special language. This combined with both of them now constantly rolling over and "wiggling" themselves around the room, has made this week one of many discoveries for them.

I'm posting a few random photos and some from uncle Stevens birthday party last weekend. I wish I was able to post captions with them. Maybe I can but haven't figured it out yet??!! I'll have to work on that.
